Ingredients | |

4½ C | quaker oats, uncooked |
1 C | packed brown sugar |
¾ C | margarine, melted |
½ C | dark corn syrup |
1 Tbsp | vanilla |
½ tsp | salt |
12oz pkg | semi-sweet chocolate chips |
2 Tbsp | shortening |
⅔ C | chopped nuts |
Directions
- Preheat oven to 450. Grease 15x10 pan.
- Combine oats, sugar, margarine, corn syrup, vanilla, salt. Mix well.
- Firmly press into pan.
- Bake 12 min, or until mixture is brown and bubbly.
- Cool completely.
- In saucepan over low heat, melt chocolate and shortening, stirring constantly until smooth.
- Or, put in glass in microwave, stirring every 30 sec.
- Spread over oat base, sprinkle with nuts.
- Chill until set. Cut into bars.
