Apple Silicon

Dropping intel proccessors, moving to internal apple silicon. A4 through A13 iphone chips focused on performance per watt. Mac will do the same.

  • “Rosetta 2” Will drive intel apps on macs with apple silicon
    • Translates at install time
    • Support for JIT
    • Transparent to users
  • New virtualization technologies?

Expect to ship by end of the year, transition to take about 2 years. Expect to continue to ship updates for intel macs for “years to come”. Even still have new intel hardware updates still in the pipeline.
